SEAFLI TIMELINE: A GUIDE TO YOUR FELLOWSHIP/SCHOLARSHIP
**NOTE: THIS IS A GENERAL TIMELINE AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Late January: Deadline to apply for Boren Fellowship
Early February: Deadline to apply for Boren Scholarship
Mid-April: Awardee notifications sent by Boren
Early May: Deadline to accept or decline Boren awards
Note: Students that are able to accept their award prior to the early May deadline are strongly encouraged to do so in order to begin visa and other program applications as soon as possible.Early May: Deadline to apply to University of Wisconsin-Madison (multi-step process)
Early – Mid-May: Deadline to enroll in classes
By mid-May: Schedule and take pre-program OPI test through Language Testing International (deadline to be provided by Boren)
Watch for email communications from American Councils; receive registration instructions
Mid – Late May: Deadline to apply to UW-Madison International Academic Programs (IAP) for spring abroad program
Early June: Deadline for American Councils full registration
Early June: Boren Convocation in Washington, DC
Mid-June: First day of SEASSI (summer domestic classes)
End of first week of Summer classes: Deadline to pay summer tuition and program fees
Fourth week of SEASSI: End of first semester and final exams
Late July: SEAFLI Pre-Departure Orientation
Early – Mid-August: Post-summer OPIs
Early – Mid-August: Last day of SEASSI (summer domestic classes)
Mid-August: Transition break from domestic to overseas program
Mid – Late August: Expected group departure to Indonesia/ Thailand/ Vietnam
Mid – Late August: Expected arrival in Malang, Indonesia/ Chiang Mai, Thailand/ Hanoi, Vietnam
Mid – Late August: In-Country Orientation
Mid – Late August: Fall courses begin
Early December: Post-overseas OPI testing, exams, and program evaluation
Early December: End of fall program / return to the United States, for fall participants only
